Tip#20: Don’t Overlook Thanksgiving

Gratitude is always important, but it is timely and important during year-end. Make sure your organization has a plan to honor your team, donors, and volunteers on or before Thanksgiving. One thing we hear often is that nonprofits are hesitant to contact donors on holidays … and they should be. That said, an email or mailed message of pure gratitude or a story of impact and hope is fine to share on the day of Thanksgiving. Avoid text and phone messages, and don’t rely on social media to convey your sentiments. Make it personal, and whether it happens the day before/after or of Thanksgiving, make sure it happens. It will only prepare you for success on #GivingTuesday.
