Tip#25: If you’re using direct mail, prepare for COVID-19 delays

While #GivingTuesday is largely a digital endeavor, I’ve heard of a few nonprofits with an audience that skews older investing in a direct mail component as well. Note: if you plan to do this, you may also want to communicate about #GivingTuesday as well as solicit support. If a donor is not online to give, they’re likely not online enough to become aware of the #GT movement. Also consider that mail, especially nonprofit bulk mail, is SLOW in many areas due to the pandemic. Mailing about a digital campaign is confusing enough, but promoting a single day to give after it’s passed is a waste of postage.
